BEACHES

Carrapateira is a very nice, traditional portuguese fishing village. It still maintains its character, there are no high buildings, all the houses are built in the traditional style, and in white.

The closest surrounding beaches, Praia do Amado and Praia Bordeira are still virgin, with no buildings on the beach. If you walk a couple of meters, especially in Bordeira, you will be alone, even in summer.

There are a lot more exceptional beaches in the area, from Arrifana, Monte Clerigo, Cordoama, Punta Ruiva, Beliche, Tonel, Zavial, Praia da Luz untill Lagos. Depending on weather, wind and waves, they are either good for sunbathing, surfing or kitesurfing…

If the north wind, the Nortada, is blowing, the sheltered beaches on the south facing coast like Beliche or Zavial, and Arrifana, are warmer, and better for surfing.

Sagres and Lagos are not far away and offer all kind of activities for everybody, from shopping to golf courses and discotheques.
